The year was 1966, the location was Arkansas. Fairfield Resorts started from a single location and has now gorn to a vast network of resorts, travel services and member privledges.
They started out as a land development selling company selling subdividted lots, whole ownership condos and custom-built homes in large master-planned communities such as Fairfield Bay among other locations in the area. When the timeshare concept took off in 1979 they began selling FairShare. That was a deeded ownership interest that provided an annual resort vacation at a specific location during a specific time of year.
They now have close to 9,000 employees nationwide. Fairfield has resorts located in the most desirable destinations and rate among the highest worldwide in quality. “over 80% of all Fairfield resorts have been awarded a ‘Gold Crown’ or ‘Resort of International Distrinction’ ranking by the RCI”. This is an honor that only the top 10% of timeshare properties throughout the world have earned.
